Prayer Request

God, I need you're help, your guidance, your knowledge and your courage. I have to make a decision on where to go and I need it fast. I feel like a failure as a father and I feel like I might be taking the easy way out. Please I need my kids in my life god and moving 1800 miles from them would make it nearly impossible to see them and I don't want them to think I abandoned them or that I don't love them.

Are you moving due to divorce or work?

Anonymous | on Jan 17, 2015

Me and their mom have been separated for five years now. The place I am living in is being for closed on and I have no where else to go. Unfortunately their mom won't move so I have to leave them behind. I have already tried everything just to be able to stay this long.

I see. After moving, if you get a steady job and a place to stay is there any chance of reconciliation with your wife? If your wife feels a sence of security with you she might be willing to reconcile? If that is the case then you can put this good hope in the hearts of your children. Tell them it breaks your heart to be separated from
Them but you have to move to make a way for the family to be brought back together. Tell them you are going to work hard to find a job and get a place to stay for them. If they know you are moving as a means to bring the family back together. I think it will give them encouragement and hope. As for your wife, 5years of separation must mean she is still holding on to the marriage or she would have divorced you a long time ago. I have read that finances are the biggest reason for divorce. If you and your wife have been going through a lot of financial hardships perhaps it caused a lot of strain on the marriage and the idea of moving across the country feels too risky for your wife, but if you can get yourself established, she may be willing to move and give the marriage another chance. In the meantime, just stay in continual communication with your children by emailing and calling them. They will understand you have not abandoned them.
