Prayer Request

Dear God,
My son now 13 just told me (after praying together almost every night, of most of his life) Mom, I don't believe in God. I was shocked, speechless(for a bit)stunned etc!:( We do bible studies once a week. I was so upset, I just left his room. I became very emotional! I went back upstairs and he said, Sorry mom, Ok I do believe in God. But I think he only said that, bcuz I had said I was so disappointed in him. Which, I regret now. He said he didn't get how 1 person could Create All... I told him, God is not like us. God is a higher power, a spirit. He then asked me a lot of questions that I answered as best I could. God please help me, to help him believe in you! Please help him to understand more about the bible, Jesus and holy spirit. I can only hope and pray that I goto heaven when I pass over. And if I do, I'd love to be able to reunite with my son there, in the after-life, when he crosses over too. I'd love to enjoy eternal life in a more peaceful place with All of my Family&Friends. And of course, I'd love to spend that peaceful eternity, with my wonderful husband Ian, as well... Please God please help them, See the Light... In Jesus name Amen...

Don't be discouraged. Your son is 13, an age of questioning everything. He no longer has that childlike faith and is trying to work things out on his own. In Gods word He tells us to "train a child up in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it". Don't change your prayer habits or church habits. Continue raising him as you are and trust Gods word that if your son chooses to not believe right now, when he is old he will come back to it. Trust God and do your best at raising your son. Don't make him feel bad for telling you how he feels. First reactions aren't always the best, but that doesn't have to stay that way. Keep your communication open so he feels he can talk to you about this more without being made to feel bad. God be with you all. Things will be okay.

Thanks for your wonderful comment&wise words! I really do feel sooo much better now! :) I'm gonna apologize for what I said outta frustration and continue on with the praying, bible studies and also find a good church with a good Sunday school class, for kids within his age group. I have a lot of faith in God, so I'll trust in him to see my son&my husband (who like my son, is kinda on the fence too) through... Peace & Love :)
